Monday 2nd August - walks ***** – 1. Early morning prom walk and 2. Falkenham circuit – after a sunny start it clouded again.

Walk 1.

Got up early with wall-to-wall sunshine all be it a tad on the chilly side and went for a lovely prom walk leaving home at 6 this morning, hoping to get some pics to send to the local TV weather forecasts, something of a hobby at the moment:) It was really quiet along the prom as we headed down to Jacobs Ladder, just the way we like it just a few joggers, dog walkers, fishermen and open water swimmers getting a few nice pics too with a fantastic deep blue sky:) I was then lucky enough to actually get two of my photos on Chris Pages weather forecast on ITV’s About Anglia, we love Chris:) Back home to do exercises in the back garden as the sun disappears behind the clouds but at least there was no rain today! After Mags Garden hour she went to Lidl for a big shop and then decided to headed over to Falkenham Church again for a walk after lunch at home.

Walk 2.

We take the quiet country lanes out to Falkenham Church arriving at two, we started in sweatshirts but it was warm enough to take them off, even got some brief glimpse of sun too:) In a two hour walk across farmland featuring fields of barley, wheat, onions, sugar beet, rape, a few nearly ready to harvest, we love to see how the crops are coming along. There was a long bit along the River Deben path with several yachts beating slowly down river against the tide in light airs with a few birds about including a heron, loads of gulls, egrets and a few waders we only saw three other people out:) We are so lucky to live here in Suffolk, so beautiful and still easy to get away from the crowds!
Speaking of crowds, loads of people are getting excited about the imminent arrival of the Evergiven, the huge container ship that got stuck in the Suez Canal! It is at the moment anchored off Felixstowe but sadly it has very few containers onboard so looks far from impressive. Would still like to see it come into port but at the moment I have heard it is coming in at 8 or 10 or 5 so who knows, might bike down to Landguard tomorrow morning early to check things out!
